Accommodation Provided

Each young person, who resides in our homes will have their own large double bedroom.

The kitchen area can be used by the young person to both learn and practise new skills in preparing and cooking food. Laundry will be completed at the home and staff will support young people to participate and to develop independent living skills.

Young people have access to a mobile telephone to use in private, which can be accessed at appropriate times throughout the day. The telephone will be kept with staff yet will be freely available to young people (as agreed in their respective care plans)

Activities

Each young person will be actively encouraged to take part in aspects of their life and engage in activities to develop their life skills and communication skills.

Culture, Language and Religion

All young people will be supported in developing an awareness of their religious and cultural backgrounds. Issues in relation to religion/belief and culture will be considered within each young person’s care plan.

Provision will be made for young people wishing to attend religious services, and support will be provided to allow young people to follow religious or cultural practice during their stay with us,  including specific dietary needs or clothing requirements.

Staff will provide help to any young person with any education required regarding people of different ethnic cultural backgrounds groups, which may arise whilst in our care.  Staff will support young people, in taking pride in all elements of their cultural heritage and identity.
